OneStar: Strategies to Achieve Social Impact

Texas Connector: Linking Community Needs and Nonprofit Solutions across Texas

What is Texas Connector?

The Texas Connector is an online, interactive mapping tool that links needs and nonprofits to strengthen Texas communities. It provides a visual “snapshot” of social service needs and resources to allow funders, local and state government leaders, researchers and the nonprofit community to more effectively meet Texas’ growing needs. The Texas Connector bridges the information gap between the areas served by nonprofits and the underserved communities of Texas.

How does it work?

The Texas Connector displays nonprofit information pulled from a variety of state and national databases and overlays it with requested demographic and socioeconomic data derived from a variety of governmental and other sources.

Users will be able to:

  • Identify community needs and available nonprofit resources to address gaps in service.
  • Search for nonprofits within a geographic area.
  • Analyze the nonprofit infrastructure in general or in relation to particular needs or social indicators.
  • Create customized statistical reports for user identified regions of interest.

Note: This application is a proof-of-concept only, and should not be used for decision-making purposes at this time.  Currently, the service provider data is limited to the counties of Rockwall, Tarrant, Denton, Dallas, and Collin. OneStar cannot guarantee accuracy or completeness of database during this prototype phase.
