AUSTIN - OneStar Foundation: Texas Center for Social Impact is pleased to launch the second of two requests for applications (RFAs) through the Renewing Our Communities Account. Funded last session through House Bill 492, these grants are intended to encourage partnerships, reduce barriers and foster better communication among faith-based and community organizations (FBCOs), local governments and partners in the nonprofit sector.

Using a multi-faceted approach, OneStar has designed a comprehensive initiative to meet the requirements of HB 492 and build capacity across all levels of government and FBCOs.

OneStar solicits applications to award six (6) grants of $40,000 to city, county and other local government offices responsible for outreach to nonprofits, including faith-based and community organizations, or those interested in initiating such an effort. A regional association or council of Texas local governments is eligible to apply.

Grantees will use program funds to 1) conduct outreach and networking activities to reach new nonprofits and facilitate partnerships, 2) provide free capacity building training to nonprofit organizations and 3) grantees will also use program funds to build their own capacity to partner with nonprofits.

Applications will be accepted online through the OneStar website and must be received before 11:59 p.m. CST on Monday, August 16, 2010.

Specific information on eligibility and selection criteria can be found in the RFA on our website at http://www.onestarfoundation.org/page/roc.
