OneStar Announces $11.1 Million in AmeriCorps*Texas Funding
AUSTIN - OneStar Foundation: Texas Center for Social Impact announced 26 organizations (listed below) in Texas that will receive a total of $11.1 million in AmeriCorps State grants.
The organizations receiving funding were selected through a highly competitive review process and their funding will be for the 2010-2011 grant year. These federal funds come from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to OneStar Foundation. The grants will support more than 1,500 AmeriCorps*Texas members who will have a direct positive impact on communities across the state of Texas through an estimated 1,623,723 hours of service.
AmeriCorps is a national service program that engages Americans of all ages and backgrounds in service to meet critical needs. OneStar administers AmeriCorps*Texas, an AmeriCorps State program, which pairs members with nonprofits, public agencies and faith-based and community organizations to help them tackle social challenges. AmeriCorps*Texas gives members the opportunity to work with organizations and their networks of hundreds of nonprofits to strengthen Texas communities while being part of a national service movement.
