Boards of directors must fulfill four necessary functions on behalf of their organization. Boards must be (1) independent bodies that (2) represent specific constituencies and, based upon the interests and inputs of the constituencies, must develop (3) strategies and demand (4) accountability. Boards only succeed when they fulfill each of these functions. The challenge is, how do we organize our boards to achieve these functions? Learn a comprehensive and coherent governance model by which boards can completely fulfill their duties and provide greater value to their organizations.
