First you have a passion and then you make a plan. In the for-profit sector, business plans typically have one real audience: potential investors. In fact, 68% of America's fastest-growing firms use written business plans.* Even though proven to be useful tools, many nonprofits don't have effective business plans and other nonprofits don't have one at all because the development process is seen as too complicated and time-consuming. In the nonprofit sector, an agency's business plan must convince not only funders, but Board members, staff and even clients and the general public of the competency of its plans and people to make a difference in the lives of those they serve.
This workshop presents nonprofit professionals with a new and powerful solution: "The One Page Business Plan for Nonprofit Organizations." Hailed by users from agencies such as the Northern Illinois Food Bank and San Francisco's Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice as "the most effective and simple strategic planning tool ever created," this method allows busy nonprofit volunteers and staff to draft a viable, effective business plan in just one sitting.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
--Draft a vision statement in two sentences or less.
--Learn the five key ingredients of an effective business plan.
--Learn the five myths of business planning.
--Compose a mission statement designed to increase financial support.
--Learn how objectives and strategies work together to ensure superior execution. In addition, participants will learn how to build their "One Page Business Plan" in a way that's consistent with the objectives and vision unique to their organizational missions.
The instructor is Judy Bragg, CMC, principal, Bragg Resources, an internationally recognized management consultant, author, speaker and entrepreneur who helps nonprofit CEOs develop and reach their strategic milestones for the year.
