The Texas Department of State Health Services Region 2/3 is sponsoring a series of no-fee, two-day workshops to assist communities in preparing to manage response to mass fatality incidents. The workshop is directed at community emergency responders of all types, including:

  • Law enforcement departments.
  • Clergy.
  • Emergency managers.
  • Volunteer coordinators and centers.
  • Community mental health officials.
  • Public officials and community leaders.
  • Medical examiners and county courts.
  • Fire departments.
  • EMS personnel.
  • Funeral directors.
  • Faith-based volunteer organizations.
  • Independent school districts.
  • Local health departments.

These two-day workshops will be help participants:

  • Identify potential risks, assess their preparedness and learn how to mobilize community resources
  • in a mass fatality incident.
  • Understand how to create a community response plan to mass fatality incidents, including use of an Incident Command System and Emergency Operations Center.
  • Learn about local, state and federal resources that may be available in mass fatality incidents.
  • Examine various equipment and supplies required for response to mass fatality incidents.
  • Discuss roles and responsibilities of various responders in care for victims and survivors.
  • Develop a plan to train and mobilize both faith-based and community volunteer resources.
  • Participate in test exercises to prepare for mass fatality incidents.

Attendance at each workshop is limited to 100 persons.
