As a part of its Scaling What Works initiative, Grantmakers for Effective Organizations is sponsoring a series of workshops for grantmakers who want to support grantee efforts to increase their impact. Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF) will deliver the first workshop, Assessing and Supporting Nonprofit Financial Health. NFF will provide tools to guide grantmakers in their financial assessments of grantees.
The workshops will familiarize participants with fundamental principles of finance in the nonprofit sector, including how to use financial information and metrics to assess the financial condition of grantees, how to engage in a dialogue about financial challenges and resource needs, as well traditional grantmaking practices — how they can sometimes unintentionally hinder nonprofit effectiveness.
