WHO: Emerging Leaders (individuals 20-30 years old who are currently working for an eligible nonprofit organization)
WHAT: A week in residence, follow-up online instruction, coaching and mentoring
WHEN: May 18 - 22, 2009 (week in residence) and June - November, 2009 (online follow-up)
WHERE: Week in residence: Bush School of Government & Public Service, Texas A&M University, College Station and Online follow-up: Participants' location
VALUE: Scholarship provided by OneStar Foundation (valued at $2,800 per organization)
This innovative program is designed to improve Emerging Leaders' abilities to assume leadership roles in the nonprofit sector. It will also create an understanding of the participants' management and leadership styles.
Participants will benefit by:
- Building a network of colleagues who face similar challenges and opportunities,
- Understanding their own leadership competencies,
- Recognizing the challenges of leading organizations in the sector,
- Creating a strong relationship with a mentor within their organization and
- Increasing their understanding of nonprofit management topics.
Organizations will benefit by:
- Developing the next generation of nonprofit leaders,
- Training concepts and best practices of staff mentoring to an executive leader,
- Grooming staff for organizational succession planning,
- Creating strong relationships between staff members and executive leaders and
- Establishing increased motivation from the participating Emerging Leader.
